Connecting Nebraska’s neighbors to essential benefits through vehicle donation.

Our mission, our story, and why this work matters locally.

How we started

Great Plains Autos began in the heart of Nebraska when a small group of community leaders recognized a troubling truth: many of our neighbors were eligible for vital assistance programs, yet remained unenrolled. This realization sparked a mission to not only provide a funding solution but to directly connect those in need with local benefits resources. With a shared commitment to helping our community thrive, we turned to vehicle donations as a reliable funding model.

By collecting and selling unwanted cars, Great Plains Autos generates crucial funds that support a free benefits-research service for Nebraskans. Our innovative approach allows us to bridge the gap between those in need and the benefits systems designed to help them. We believe in the power of community, and through the generosity of our donors, we can ensure that no one is left behind in accessing essential programs like SNAP and LIHEAP.

Our mission

At Great Plains Autos, our mission is to connect Nebraska residents with critical benefits programs while providing a seamless vehicle donation experience. Our work supports local initiatives such as SNAP, Heritage Health, ADC, WIC, and LIHEAP. Every car donated helps fund our free benefits-research service, empowering local residents to gain access to the support they need to lead healthier, more stable lives. Together, we can make a difference in our communities!

Our principles

Why this city

Nebraska is a place that values community and support, and yet many neighborhoods, especially in urban areas like South Omaha and North Lincoln, face challenges in accessing vital benefits programs. Our state has a sizable population of eligible residents under-enrolled in programs like SNAP and LIHEAP. By focusing our efforts here, we aim to close the enrollment gaps and ensure that every neighbor has the opportunity to live a stable and supported life.

Join us in making a difference today! If you have a vehicle to donate, your contribution could help someone in your community access essential benefits they may not know they qualify for. Or, if you need assistance, use our free benefits finder to discover programs like WIC and Heritage Health. Every action counts towards building a stronger Nebraska!
